User Manual

This user manual covers M Hybrid Inverter 5kW and M Hybrid Inverter 6kW. It is intended for qualified electrical engineers who transport, install, commission, and maintain the inverter.

Electrical ratings from the datasheet are in Specifications. The battery module is in Battery.

Transportation, loading, unloading, installation, start-up, and maintenance must be performed by qualified electrical engineers. While the inverter is running, some components may be charged or hot.

After disconnecting DC, wait 5 minutes for residual voltage to discharge before operating the inverter. High voltage is present during operation. The housing can be hot; do not touch it.

This is a transformer-free topology. Do not ground the positive or negative of the PV array. Connect the inverter PE terminal for grounding protection.

The photovoltaic system is not suitable for devices that rely on stable power supply, such as life-sustaining medical devices.

Do not use a load with a high starting current; off-grid output may fail due to excessive instantaneous power. Inductive load: 1.5P non-variable-frequency air conditioners are supported; standby may be unstable with two or more. Capacitive load: total power ≤0.7 × rated output power of the inverter.

If overload protection trips once, the inverter can restart automatically. If it happens several times, the inverter stops; restart it from the app after the fault is cleared. If load exceeds rated power during a grid outage, off-grid output shuts down — reduce load below rated power, then restart.

Do not install in flammable, explosive, or corrosive environments. Keep away from water pipes and cables in the wall. Keep out of children’s reach. Avoid direct sun, rain, and snow; a sheltered position or awning is recommended.

Mounting angle: vertical or backward ≤15°. Do not invert, tilt forward, or install horizontally. Leave at least 1.2 m from the ground below the inverter, and about at least 300 mm clearance as shown in the manual. Installation altitude must be lower than 4000 m.

Stay more than 30 m from wireless electromagnetic interference devices below 30 MHz, or add a ferrite core / low-pass EMI filter on DC input or AC output.

The mounting surface must be fire-resistant and able to carry the inverter weight. Do not mount on a carrier with poor sound insulation.

Do not connect the same PV string to multiple inverters. Confirm maximum short-circuit current and maximum input voltage of each PV string are within the inverter range before connecting.

AC grid-port cable: outdoor multi-core copper, wire cross-sectional area 6 mm²-10 mm² (L / N / PE).

Pre-power-on: inverter firmly on the wall bracket; cables undamaged; PV+/PV- and BAT+/BAT- polarity and voltage correct; battery DC switch off; AC breakers on grid and load ports off; lithium-battery communication cables connected.

On

  1. Confirm the inverter is not running.
  2. Switch ON the AC circuit breaker between the On Grid port and the grid.
  3. Push the top slider to Unlock, then turn the PV DC switch clockwise to ON (when PV is connected).
  4. Turn on the battery and switch ON the DC switch between the battery and the inverter.

Off

  1. Turn off all inverter loads.
  2. Open the AC breaker on the Backup port.
  3. Open the AC breaker on the On Grid port.
  4. Turn off the PV DC switch (when PV is connected).
  5. Open the DC switch between the battery and the inverter, then turn off the battery.

Default mode is self-use. Other modes:

  • Timed charge — charge on a schedule.
  • Backup / disaster recovery — keep the battery charged for outages. When PV is sufficient, PV charges the battery then supplies the load, with remainder to the grid. When the grid is down, PV and battery supply the load.
  • Priority for selling electricity — after meeting load, excess PV is sold to the grid first; remainder can charge the battery.

Operating states: Waiting, Self Test, AC GRID, Off-grid, Fault.

The strip indicator is in the middle of the panel (red / green / blue).

Green AC GRID Grid-connected; can exchange energy with the grid; load can run
Green flashing 1 s Be ready Power-on in progress; wait before running the load
Blue Off-grid Cannot exchange energy with the grid; load can run
Red System failure Shutdown with a serious alarm; load cannot run

Commissioning and monitoring use ESS LINK (Google Play or App Store). The app communicates with the inverter over Wi-Fi to monitor data and alarms, set parameters, and maintain the device.

When the system fails, the app sends a push notification at a 45-minute interval. Use the solution for that alarm, then clear the fault if required.

Disconnect power and wear PPE. Clean the heat sink and air inlet/outlet once per half year to once per year. Cycle the DC switch on and off 10 times as described in the full PDF.

These notes appear in the user-manual technical appendix. They are not merged into the datasheet tables.

  1. The inverter only supports manual battery wake-up. If the battery sleeps from undervoltage (insufficient PV or off-grid mains), wake it and recharge promptly to avoid over-discharge.
  2. Off-grid output power is 5 kW; the inverter stops on overload above 5 kW.
  3. The inverter has not been tested for multiple-inverter combinations under AS/NZS 4777.2:2020; combination connections are not recommended.
  4. The same appendix lists parallel as max 6 units and multiple-phase as NO. Follow the wiring diagrams in the PDF; do not combine this with note 3 without an approved design.
