FAQ

This FAQ covers the 1200 W plug-in kit: four 300 W panels with PIPV-configured microinverters. Electrical ratings are in Specifications. Anti-backflow hardware is Smart Gateway Lite.

Can Mango Power S PIPV be used with Mango Power E?

PIPV does not support off-grid Mango Power E configurations. It is compatible with UL-certified home battery systems, including Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, and FranklinWH.

The system is designed for plug-in operation:

  • DC voltage is always below 60 V
  • No high-voltage DC bus
  • No DC arc risk
  • Built-in anti-islanding protection

The system disconnects when grid conditions are abnormal.

The architecture aligns with NEC safety principles:

  • Low-voltage DC operation
  • Rapid Shutdown
  • Component-level grid connection
  • Anti-islanding protection

Listed standards, including UL 1741 and NEC 690.12 rapid shutdown, are in Specifications. Local permitting or notification depends on the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

How is this different from a rooftop solar system?

  • Operates at low DC voltage
  • Does not require roof penetration
  • Can be moved or expanded
  • Professional installation is not required in many cases; local permitting or inspection may still apply (AHJ)

Why can energy yield be higher than a string inverter?

  • Module-level MPPT
  • Start-up voltage 22 V
  • No PID degradation
  • Each panel operates independently

Annual energy production can be 5-30% higher than traditional string-based systems.

How much energy can the kit produce per day?

Kit:

  • 4 × 300 W solar panels
  • 4 × 280 W microinverters
  • Total solar power: 1200 W (1.2 kW)

Under good weather, 5 peak sun hours → about 6 kWh per day.

Daily kWh = 1.2 × peak sun hours.

The 280 W figure is the PIPV AC output rating. See Specifications (Nominal output power 280 VA).

Will the system feed power back to the grid?

Yes. Smart Gateway Lite provides optional anti-backflow / zero-export. Where anti-backflow is not required, the gateway does not need to be installed.

The standard offering is a four-panel (1200 W) kit.

Utah: grid connection is permit-exempt; no approval or license application is needed. Users in Utah may install the system themselves.

Other states: consult the local authority and install in full compliance with local regulations.

Balconies, backyards, patios, flat roofs, carports, and ground-mounted setups. The site needs sufficient sunlight and an outlet.

It is a plug-in balcony / outdoor solar system that can be removed when moving. Self-installation is supported where local rules allow.

Will shading on one panel affect the whole system?

No. Each panel operates independently.

Download the Mango Power App, register, bind the microinverter, and connect to Wi-Fi. Generation then appears in the app.

Yes. The microinverter is rated IP68 (NEMA Type 6P on the PIPV datasheet).

Only the affected module needs to be replaced. The rest of the system continues to operate.

Why does the S Pro nameplate differ from PIPV ratings?

Mango Power S Pro is rated 240 V / 500 W. For PIPV 120 V use, firmware is configured to 120 V / 280 W.

If I switch off the breaker or unplug the system, will the microinverter keep pushing power?

No. Mango Power S / S Pro includes certified anti-islanding protection. If the outlet loses grid power (breaker off, plug removed, or utility outage), the inverter stops exporting. When grid power returns, it checks that voltage and frequency are in specification, synchronizes, and only then resumes. It cannot energize a de-energized circuit on its own.
